MIYA FOLICK 4/29

— April 29, 2025 —

Miya Folick brought warmth to Brighton Music Hall on April 29, delivering a chill, cozy set that perfectly suited the spring evening. Touring in support of her February 2025 release Erotica Veronica, Folick played a thoughtful mix of new tracks that showcased her evolving sound—emotive, experimental, and deeply personal. The night opened with a warm set by Olivia Kaplan, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter whose understated, soulful performance set the tone. In a sweet surprise, Miya joined Olivia onstage midway through her set for a duet.

Throughout her own set, Folick made a point of connecting with the crowd, chatting warmly between songs and sharing small glimpses into her life—including a mention that she has recently gotten into birding, which drew smiles and laughter from the audience. Her stage banter felt genuine and easy, breaking down the usual barrier between performer and crowd. Later in the set, the connection came full circle when Olivia Kaplan returned to the stage to join Miya for another song. Their harmonies blended beautifully and reinforced the evening’s collaborative, openhearted energy.

Folick’s headlining set felt more like an intimate gathering than a traditional concert, marked by moments of quiet vulnerability, subtle humor, and soaring vocals. The lighting was soft and minimal, casting a warm glow that made the room feel smaller, more personal. Nothing felt rushed or overly polished—each song had room to breathe, and the spaces in between allowed her to connect with the crowd in a way that felt natural and unforced. By the end of the night, the performance did not just showcase Erotica Veronica—it offered a glimpse into the thoughtful, deeply human world behind it.
